Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur (Japanese: ドラえもん のび太の恐竜), also known internationally as Doraemon: The Motion Picture, is a 1980 science fiction anime film directed by Fukutomi Hiroshi. It is part of the Doraemon manga and anime series. This was the first feature film of the Doraemon anime, originating from a short manga story by Fujiko F. Fujio, published in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. Before its official release in March 1980, Fujiko F. Fujio serialized the entire story in CoroCoro Comic, also published by Shogakukan, and it was later released as a tankōbon in 1983, becoming the first volume in the long-story Doraemon manga series.
The story begins when Nobita discovers a fossilized egg and, using one of Doraemon’s gadgets, hatches a gentle dinosaur that he names Pīsuke. Unable to care for the dinosaur in modern Tokyo, Nobita must return Pīsuke to his home in the Cretaceous period while also protecting him from poachers from the future.
